How To Tip:
Blend two images by changing the Opacity of the top image.
You can blend two images by placing them on separate layers and changing the opacity of the top image. A layer's opacity determines to what degree it obscures or blends with the layer beneath it. A layer with 1% opacity appears nearly transparent, while one with 100% opacity is opaque.
- In the Layers palette, move the layers containing the images you want to blend so that one is directly above the other. Put the layer that you want to make partially transparent on top.
- Select the topmost of the two layers.
- Click the Opacity arrow at the top of the Layers palette to open the Opacity pop-up slider.
- Adjust the slider until you have achieved the blend you want.
You can also change the blending mode of the layer, which determines how its pixels blend with the pixels in the underlying layer. To set the blend mode, choose a blend option from the Blend Mode pop-up menu just left of the Opacity setting.
