Validating layer comps

There may be times when one or all of your layer comps get into a state where they can no longer be fully restored. This can happen if you delete a layer, merge a layer, convert a layer to a background, or use color conversion. In such instances, a caution icon  appears on the comp slots that meet one of these conditions. This will happen when the condition first occurs, not necessarily when you try to restore the layer comp. You can do one of the following:

• Ignore the warning, which may result in the loss of one or more layers. Other saved parameters may be preserved.
• Update the comp, which will result in the loss of the previously captured parameters, but will bring the comp up to date.

Click the caution icon to see a message that explains that the layer comp cannot be restored properly. Choose Clear to remove the alert icon and leave the remaining layers unchanged.

Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) the caution icon to see the popup menu that lets you choose either the Clear Layer Comp Warning or the Clear All Layer Comp Warnings command.
